The role
We are looking for an experienced corporate communications strategist with a track record of leading teams and driving growth within a startup, scaleup or advisory firm. As a member of the senior leadership team, this person will be as energised by building a business as they are by delivering exceptional client work. They will play a central role in shaping how Founders Comms operates, grows and is perceived — bringing not just expertise, but genuine leadership to a team that is ambitious and fast-moving.Working closely with the co-founders you will:
- Develop strategic communications plans that support clients' commercial objectives and their scaling strategies
- Comfortably execute on these plans, owning outcomes and being accountable for results
- Work across a broad range of stakeholder groups — customers, media, policymakers, investors, and internal audiences including employees and boards
- Line manage and mentor a team of communications professionals, with responsibility for their development, performance and day-to-day output
- Set the standard for quality across accounts, creating an environment where junior team members are stretched, supported and given real responsibility
- Play a key role in supporting the new business pipeline: developing relationships, shaping proposals and converting leads
- Support the development of business operations, ways of working and team structure
- Contribute to business strategy as the company scales
The candidate will:
- Be able to demonstrate strategic and commercial experience, with a clear understanding of how communications drives business growth
- Have a strong track record of delivery and results, both personally and through others
- Have demonstrable experience leading and developing teams
- Be a sound media and political operator with close relevant contacts
- Have strong attention to detail and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Be well connected within the startup and scaleup ecosystem

- Be a self-starter who can spot opportunities — for clients and for the business
